Tara DeCapite, M.Ed, C-MI

THANK YOU for visiting this small but mighty piece of my journey. I created this website in the early moments of COVID and hope to revisit and expand the ideas and information shared on this site in the coming months! Stay tuned!

I come to mindfulness (and yoga) as someone who has lived with depression and (at times) paralyzing anxiety since my early teens. After furiously hiding behind the painful curtain of shame and fear for most of my life, I began to share my story as part of a collaborative effort to plan and produce a live show in May of 2018 (that illuminated the healing power of sharing lived experiences of Mental Illness through creative story-telling).

This experience connected me with the lead singer of the band Big Infinite, with whom I joined forces and began working with (his) family/friends to support the growth of a 501-3c in memory of his father, Ed Lally, who died by suicide.

Collectively, we created, planned, and executed a multitude of programs, events, and fundraising campaigns all aimed at providing a pro-active approach to mental health awareness and suicide prevention through varied forms of creative, mindful and self-expression. Throughout my time with the foundation, I adopted a daily meditation practice which led to significant, positive shifts in my internal & external world.  Eventually, I became a certified meditation teacher and was able to lead a variety of classes, events, and online groups.

My faith and mental health are at the cornerstone of who I am and afford me the opportunity to share my struggles and healing strategies with vulnerability and strength.

I live in Towson, MD with my husband Matt and our four children, ages 9, 14, 17, and 19
